my significant day

today is significant for me. why? because.. a couple of weeks ago, we just launched a new function in our website called Express Booking. This function has two different purposes. first, to book Sukau tour (2D1N or 3D2N) and second, to buy day-trip tours using shopping cart. most importantly, both bookings are made via online including room reservation and credit card payment.

actually, this function has been discussed over and over again for the past 3 months and I am the one who responsible to develop the system. everytime I proposed the form required, they keep changing it, until one day I felt gave-up since I also find out that the payment part is actually very complicated. even though it's only involved a simple math, but if error calculation occured, who should be blamed for? it's easy to blame the person who calculates it, right? which is me...

even during the launching day, I felt a bit nervous. I really don't have the confidence to see this system can run smoothly. but my superior keep saying, "we look and wait for any feedback." that's mean, she still expects a minor error will happen.

today, when I'm doing some checking to all Sukau bookings on Sept 2009, I realized that one of them is booked via Express Booking. felt a bit shocked and wonder.. why reservation team never tell me about this booking? are they managed to receive it well or it's been ignored? it can't be like that, the guest should checkin on 08th Sept, which is about 2 weeks from today, somebody should have already entertained this booking.

so, I spoke to the reservation manager, asked her whether she received the booking via email or not. what a relief when she said yes but she didn't notice that it was actually booked using Express Booking. according to her, the booking has been confirmed and payment collected accordingly.

and.. as simple as that, today is significant for me. finally someone has the confidence to use the system I've developed and it's just enough to increase my own self-esteem. hehe... plus, I received a big clap from all my collegues & superiors.
